Coca-Cola’s default flavour is pretty much sacrosanct.
So much so that the only deviation that we’ll accept is Cherry Coke, which is objectively delicious.
But, a new contender has just entered the mix in time for the festive season. After much deliberation, we have no choice but to admit that it looks and sounds pretty scrumptious.
Diet Coke Clementine is the new kid on the cola block, which will be available for a limited time in stores across the UK from mid-October. In case you’re not across them, clementines are halfway between a mandarin and an orange.
What makes this fruit festive? Clementines are associated with Christmas in Europe because of a tradition dating back to the Dutch, 16th-century legend of St Nicholas. According to the FT, early versions of the legend tell the story of St Nicholas leaving nuts and apples in children’s shoes. “In another version, there was a poor man who was worried about his three daughters’ future. When St Nicholas was passing their village, he threw in three golden balls, which landed in the girls’ stockings, to change the family’s fortunes,” writes FT‘s Bee Wilson of the fabled fruit.
Anyway, Diet Coke Clementine will be available in 500ml and 1.25L bottles. It joins other fruity flavours like Diet Coke Twisted Strawberry and Diet Coke Exotic Mango.
So far the reviews are pretty mixed. Some are loving, others are hating.
Finally a NPD that taste good. Diet Coke Festive Clementine 👌🏼

We reserve all judgement until we’ve taken a sip of this festive drink.
